Program

Industry, the future of our territories

After twenty years of the forced march of globalization joined to the brutality of an unprecedented crisis and the emergence of new economic forces, we must recognize that the future of our territories is threatened. Many of these territories have reacted by implementing a strong sustainable development policy. But what is the place of industry within this strategy?

We must aim for an innovative and perfectly integrated industrial sector with limited environmental impact brought about through renewed territorial governance.

Eco-enterprises, which are closely linked to the world of research, are meant to respond to the strategic demands of a responsible economy.

As head of the Rhône-Alpes network of eco-enterprises, APPEL invites you to participate in the Fifth Summer University on the Environment, which will be held on September 22 and 23, 2011. This will be the occasion to discuss and build the future with industrial leaders, scientists, communities and eco-enterprises.

Glossary

Plenary sessions

These sessions are organized around strategic topics that enable sharing information and delimiting future trends on key environmental issues with participants. They also feature participation at the end of the day by special guests, who give their subjective analysis of the topics discussed during the Summer University on the Environment.

Round tables

There are three round tables, which take place during the plenary sessions in the morning on both event days. During these sessions, institutional players from the Rhône-Alpes area, representatives of exemplary European regions, and eco-enterprise representatives from the different territories take the floor in turn. Viewpoints are given, key issues are clarified and lines of action and means of progress are discussed and defined.

Forums

The five forums propose a shared approach to the constraints, goals and action plans required to meet major environmental challenges. The audience discusses these issues directly with five participants from industry, politics, research, the media, eco-enterprises and civil society.

Workshops

In association with industrial companies and/or territorial groups, eco-enterprises present the latest technical and scientific developments on ten operational priorities facing economic players. Participants share their experience on limits, constraints and solutions implemented.

Eco-Village

This is a gathering of eco-enterprises belonging to APPEL and partners of the Summer University on the Environment in an area allowing individualized encounters. Located in the reception hall during the two-day event, the village is a showcase of know-how that stimulates interchange between the eco-enterprises and Summer University participants.
